Lest We Forget

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead.
Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.

- John McCrae

This is a beautiful poem...I saw it on another blog, and I think its wonderful..I didn't know that Canada had the same day of honoring veterans as us, but I'm very pleased that it is! We owe our courageous men and women a great debt of honor.

God bless,
Mary

I read same poem this AM early too.
So moving.
Love the poppy pic.
I have spent a few Remembrance Days in Saint John, N.B. Loved the parades of the surviving veterans...and bag pipes.... so moving. Most shops closed too.
Hugs,
Lola
